SUMMARY:ABEC Meeting
DESCRIPTION:After a long period of restrictions due to the pandemic\, we were able to hold an event in which we celebrated the reunion of our community. \nThe ABEC Meeting 2023\, an annual event of the Brazilian Association of Scientific Editors (ABEC Brasil)\, was held in Foz do Iguaçu (PR)\, from November 21st to 23rd\, 2023. The ABEC Meeting is the main event\, in Brazil\, for scientific editors and professionals involved in the academic publishing process. It is a unique opportunity to discuss trends\, share knowledge and establish strategic partnerships in the field of scientific publishing. Renowned national and international speakers shared their experiences\, enriching the debate and offering valuable knowledge. \nThe program was diverse and comprehensive\, addressing\, in panel format\, relevant and current topics\, such as editorial policy\, financial sustainability\, ethics and integrity\, indexing\, DEIA and artificial intelligence in publishing. There were also workshops\, in which the participation of postgraduate students was encouraged\, addressing different management processes in scientific publishing. To share experiences among participants\, we had oral communication sessions\, in which works selected by a scientific committee were presented to the public. Maintaining tradition\, during the opening ceremony of the event\, we announced the winner of the Jürgen Döbereiner Award\, Editor of the Future modality. \nFurthermore\, as pre-event activities\, mini-courses took place exclusively in online format\, aimed at training editorial teams in managing their journals. \nThe city of Foz do Iguaçu\, in Paraná\, known for its stunning Iguaçu Falls and rich cultural diversity\, was the perfect setting to host the ABEC Meeting 2023. In addition to participating in an enriching event\, participants had the opportunity to explore the natural beauty of the region and enjoy the local hospitality and cuisine.
