SUMMARY:Association of Earth Science Editors 54th Annual Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Association of Earth Science Editors 54th Annual Meeting\nColumbus\, Ohio\, USA \n  \nSeptember 30–October 3\, 2020 \n  \nVenue: Hilton Garden Inn Columbus – University Area\, Columbus\, Ohio \n  \nThe 54th annual meeting of the Association of Earth Science Editors will take place in Columbus\, Ohio\, September 30–October 3\, 2020. This year’s theme is “Effectively Communicating Geoscience in the Public Sphere.” The full schedule of programs\, including keynote speaker\, is being compiled\, but the meeting hotel is set and a field trip has been arranged. \nThis year’s meeting will be hosted by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources\, Division of Geological Survey. Traditionally referred to as the Ohio Geological Survey\, it is Ohio’s oldest natural resources agency\, dating back to 1837\, and a charter division of the ODNR in 1949. The AESE meeting field trip will be led by Erika Danielsen and Sam Hulett\, both with the Ohio Geological Survey. The trip will highlight Central Ohio geology\, which features Devonian and Mississippian rocks\, and the influence of the Acadian Orogeny at the western edge of the Appalachian Basin. \nWe invite AESE members and other interested persons to submit an abstract for a talk based on this or other earth science-related themes. Abstract deadline is August 1\, 2020. \n  \nThe annual meeting is open to anyone interested in earth science or science editing and communication. For more information\, contact host chair Chuck Salmons\, Ohio Geological Survey\, charles.salmons@dnr.state.oh.us\, or visit www.aese.org
