SUMMARY:World Conference on Research Integrity - Digital Event 2021
DESCRIPTION:From 30 May – 2 June 2021\, we will host a series of webinars on six engaging and relevant topics as a precursor to our live event in 2022. These discussions will form part of the broader RI dialogue\, and set a foundation we hope to build on in Cape Town when the RI community gather to – at long last – meet in person. \n  \n \n  \nEach topic will be broadcast live via webinar in two different time slots. This is to ensure that as many delegates as possible from around the world and in different time zones are able to participate. \nThe sessions are free of charge and will take place via Zoom. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSave the dates in your calendar – you don’t want to miss these informative and topical discussions! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVisit the conference webpage for full details

SUMMARY:15th EASE General Assembly and Conference
DESCRIPTION:In the light of the continuing uncertainties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic\, the EASE Council have announced that the 15th EASE General Assembly and Conference will be held virtually from 23-25 June 2021. The theme of the conference is Promoting sustainability in scholarly publishing: the role of editors \nThe 2021 EASE conference will focus on two issues paramount in science publishing: sustainability and diversity. \n2020 was a turning point in science communication with the global pandemic revealing the limitations of our current models and raising questions about how we\, as editors can – and should – influence scientific communication. \nSustainability\, in terms of managing the Earth’s resources\, is often considered to be unrelated to editorial and research activities; but careful husbandry of available resources is at the heart of a sustainable scientific ecosystem. As editors we need to investigate how we can promote more sustainable research and equable systems of communication\, and we need to carefully consider our influence on research that respects the Earth’s resources. Implicit is the need to ensure diversity\, and to avoid niche publishing that excludes participation and partnership around the world\, and which overstretches available resources. \nThese vital topics will be considered by key speakers at the conference\, and delegates will participate in debates via the EASE Forum Live! sessions. \nThe programme will include presentations\, case studies and discussions on the following topics: \n\nThe challenges of publishing in a world of politicised science\nThe environmental responsibilities of publishers and editors\nThe importance of technology to support sustainable local journal publishing\nPromoting and ensuring sustainable research\nEnsuring gender equity and inclusion\nWhy geographical diversity is needed\nWhat the pandemic has taught us about sustainability\nHow the current western and northern publishing bias can be changed\nWhat editorial roles will look like in the future.\n\nEach session will include consideration of one or more of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to question how the work\, experiences and behaviors of editors\, publishers and researchers can influence and help to achieve the SDGs. \nVisit the Conference webpages for more details \nPlease direct all enquiries to the Secretary secretary@ease.org.uk
