  • Mike Morrison’s #betterposter PART 2

Last year, Mike Morrison set out to revolutionise the research poster with a whole new approach to design.

He has now released a new video with even more ideas for trimming away the redundant information, to enhance visual appeal, readability and knowledge transfer.

In a Twitter thread, Morrison says that the “principles behind the design are universal and can improve anything you design (virtual posters, virtual presentations, etc.)”, so releasing the video now, while in-person events are still a ways off could still prove useful – possibly more so than before.

  • Cleaner, fresher, more effective poster design

This video has been circulating for the last few months, but if you have not seen it, or the radical new poster designs from IOPsych PhD Mike Morrison, then check out both the video below and the downloadable templates.

His new designs look clean, almost empty, with the main finding presented clearly in the middle in headline lettering. He also incorporates QR codes which the Western world is being slow to adopt, but which is well established and becoming a norm around China and other parts of the world. These codes allow viewers to access greater details of the paper, adding the complexity of current poster styles, and complementing any conversations had at the conference.
