An Overview of Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses

Tom Lang Communications and Training International

With a combination of lecture and in-course exercises, this workshop introduces participants to the types and concepts of systematic reviews. The exercises are designed to illustrate issues commonly encountered when performing systematic reviews. Resources for conducting these reviews are identified and include the instructional materials available through the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews.

This workshop is based on Chapter 17 of How to Report Statistics in Medicine and on Lang T. Chapter 15: Systematic Reviews. The Research Guide, A Primer for Residents, Other Health Care Trainees, and Practitioners
