Writing the Technical ReportTom Lang Communications and Training International
Including a popular 45-minute role-playing communication exercise, this workshop teaches participants how to plan and write technical reports. The “PQRST” approach to planning written technical communication—Purpose, Qualities (of the document), Readers, Setting (of use), and Topic—and ways of thinking about each of these components help participants communicate more effectively. A general outline of a report is proposed, as well as several strategies for presenting arguments of fact, value, or policy. Techniques for improving the process of writing are also described.
This workshop includes some information from chapters 2 and 3 of How to Write, Publish, and Present in the Health Sciences.
