EASE Summer Symposium 2026 – Session 5

10 Actions to Maximise Journal Impact

Thursday, 4 June 2026, 10am-11.30am

How we measure journal impact is subjective. Whether a smaller or larger journal, join Lou in this interactive session to better understand the top 10 strategies you can adopt to improve the impact of your journal.

Impact is often referred to as though it has a single definition, but for journals, impact is so much more. Shaped by mission, objectives, internal and external communities, quality, visibility, trust, reach, and value. What matters for one journal and its community may be completely different from another.

We explore key themes to offer 10 practical actions you can take to strengthen the impact of your journal, in ways that are more meaningful, responsible, and achievable. Drawing on earlier sessions, insights from session participants and expert perspectives, connect the dots between journal quality and journal influence.

We reflect on tools and strategies to help you identify why and what action to take. Leave with a clearer sense of priorities, and a simple framework for deciding which actions are likely to make the biggest difference for your journal.
