ALPSP Course – The Peer Review Process: Mastering the fundamentals

09:00-12:00 (EDT), 14:00-17:00 (BST), 15:00-18:00 (CEST)

This is an introductory level course for anyone interested in finding out about the scholarly peer review process (for journals and books, HSS and STM). Many academic/scholarly publishers and societies have in-house editorial office staff who manage peer review systems and processes.  This course helps to offer a structured approach to this element of their job by providing context, examining the mechanics of managing peer review, and exploring the changing peer-review landscape. The basic principles of scholarly peer review are the same, but there are subtle differences to be aware of in the approach to peer review between books and journals, and even across disciplines/specialties.
