EASE Germany webinar: How can my journal support data availability?

Tuesday, 9 September 2025

Many journals already require that data underlying research articles is made available, however, studies show that actual data availability in biomedical fields remains largely low and where data is made available, this often takes place in a way which is not very reusable.

This webinar first introduced current data sharing practices common among academic journals, covering how and where journal policies are presented, how journals ensure compliance with them, as well as evidence of actual data availability.

The second part of the session provided practical recommendations and best practices for journal editors to support data availability, focusing on the handling of data availability statements and suitable locations for data depositing.

Finally, we discussed conventions of data citations and the handling of personal data, as well as keeping time for answering audience questions to provide some guidance for specific issues you may be facing.

This webinar was free and open to all.
