Tuesday, 16 December 2025, 2pm UK time

A perennial hot topic among new and seasoned journal editors, this session discussed journal indexing.

Presented by Elsevier Publisher Michelle Feng He, and hosted by EASE President & Reviewer Experience Lead at Elsevier, Bahar Mehmani, the session explained the inclusion criteria for three major journal indexes;  Web of Science, Scopus, and PubMed, detailing measures including required editorial standards and publication performance, content and compliance of aims & scope and editorial policies that can make acceptance more likely. The session also described the common reasons journals fail their applications and offered advice on how to avoid a disappointing result, as well as what to do if you get rejected. Finally, the event included a note on the standards journals must exhibit for these indexes to remove titles from their databases.
