As conference season approached, the EASE Training committee hosted this open session to support anyone interested in learning more about the art of poster design and presentation.

Poster and Video Presentation Preparation

This session set out to help anyone thinking of submitting poster presentations to an event, especially the EASE Conference!  It was held to coincide with the call for abstracts for the 2022 EASE Poster Exhibition and Competition, and was valuable to anyone wishing to submit a poster and video presentation, especially if they were new to the poster format.

This webinar event was hosted on the Zoom platform on Monday, 11 April at 2pm (UK time) for approximately 45 minutes.

The training was led by Ana Jiménez Rivero, Director of Ineditum and Scientific Storyline.  The session focused on the following key areas:

Clarity and precision of content
– The poster’s scientific storyline. From research question/hypothesis/aim and objectives to take-home messages and the general conclusion of the study, including other key aspects such as background, methods, results, and possible limitations, as well as bibliographic references, acknowledgements, including funders and supplemental information.

Design
– The Readers’ and Viewers’ perspectives.
– Selection of take-home messages and supporting your findings
– Layout, conciseness of content, use of headings, figures, tables and illustrations
– Typography, colour and other design choices.

Video presentation
– Script writing
– Visual creation
– Tips for filming
