Ashley is a Deputy Managing Editor, managing a team of in-house Assistant Editors, and has been with The Lancet for the past 7 years. Before starting at The Lancet, Ashley worked as a scientific and medical editor. From 2011 to 2015, she was the Executive Science Writer for the Queensland Brain Institute at The University of Queensland (Brisbane, Australia). Her responsibilities included the writing, coordination, and submission of grant applications for submission to government and philanthropic funding bodies. She also assisted with the preparation of primary research articles for submission to journals. Between 2015 and 2017, she continued doing similar work in a freelance capacity, while based in Berlin, Germany. In addition to her professional experience, Ashley holds a Bachelor of Journalism, a Bachelor of Science (Neurobiology), and a First Class Honours degree in Developmental Biology, all from The University of Queensland, Australia.
