Brito Cruz has been a professor at the Physics Institute, University of Campinas (Unicamp), Brazil for 39 years during which he spent time as a visitor at AT&T Bell Laboratories, University of Rome and University Pierre et Marie Curie. He has been the President of Unicamp and President and Science Director at the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP). Since 2021 he joined Elsevier as Senior Vice President Research Networks.
