Yaiza del Pozo Martin

Editor in Chief, The Lancet Primary Care
The Lancet

United Kingdom

I am the founding editor of The Lancet Primary Care, launched in 2025. I am interested in clinical research reporting and science policy, and I am passionate about gender equity and health for all.

Editorial experience:  I joined The Lancet Group in 2017 as a Senior Editor at The Lancet Oncology. I then moved to The Lancet Haematology as Deputy Editor in 2019, and served as acting Editor-in-Chief for that journal between 2021–2022. I began my career in academic publishing as an Assistant Editor at The BMC Series (Springer Nature) and gained clinical editorial experience as an Assistant Editor at BMJ Open (The BMJ Group).

Academic experience: I had a multidisciplinary research career. I received a PhD in Cancer Biology and Oncology from Cancer Research UK, The Francis Crick Institute/University College London (UK) in 2015. I also completed a master’s degree in Neuroscience and Behavioural Biology (2011) and a bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology (2010) at Universidad Pablo de Olavide (Seville, Spain).
