Nicoline van der Linden opened our Conference with a keynote session about how to understand and identify disinformation: In an era where information is weaponized, understanding and addressing disinformation has never been more critical—especially in research. This keynote explored the nuances of how false narratives infiltrate academic and scientific fields, with a focus on distinguishing misinformation, disinformation, and malinformation through compelling examples. Additionally, we examined the tools and strategies emerging to combat these threats and the vital role of researchers, editors, and media in safeguarding the integrity of knowledge. Join me as we uncover innovative solutions and collaborative approaches to protect the truth in a complex, interconnected world.
