ALPSP Training: How Publishing Ethics can Nurture Trust in Scholarly Publications
Wednesday, 2 and Thursday, 3 July 2025
A wide range of ethical issues can arise in academic publishing. These can be caused by those who participate in scholarly publishing (for example, as authors, reviewers, editors and publishers), and by some of the pressures and practices that prevail in the research system. This course will cover how to detect and deal effectively with poor practice and misconduct in scholarly publishing and will highlight the importance of having effective publication ethics policies in place. While the principles and theories covered are applicable across most publication types, the focus of the workshop will be on those issues that mostly commonly occur in scholarly journal publications.
