FAIR data – everyone has heard the term, but what does it actually mean?
In this webinar, Karoline Mauer and Anandhi Iyappan, the metadata experts from The German Human Genome-Phenome Archive (GHGA), showed delegates how they ensure FAIR data practices and how to navigate data portals.
The session started with an exploration of the fundamentals of data and metadata, discussion of the concept of FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) data and why it is important. We also covered metadata models and how to make them. The second part of the session focussed on data portals: What portals are out there? How to tell if they are FAIR? How do portals make data accessible? And why is there a need for a portal like GHGA?
