EASE School for Manuscript Editors and Academic Authors – Week 3

This four-session online training course was designed to help authors of research papers and other technical documents (researchers, academics and technical writers) to make their manuscripts more acceptable to journal editors and therefore less likely to be desk rejected. A well prepared manuscript will proceed more smoothly through peer review and post-acceptance processes. This course as also designed to support copy editors and other professionals who help authors to prepare their manuscripts.

The 12-hour course was held once a week spread over four weeks, with two topics covered each week over 3 hours.

To accommodate the schedules of our trainers, the modules were delivered out of order.

Week 3

• Responding to reviewers’ comments and Avoiding plagiarism
• Learning to be an effective academic writer

The training was led by 2023-25 EASE Council member Yateendra Joshi, with Ksenija Bazdaric for the week 3 modules. This course is particularly suitable for early-career researchers and manuscript editors but can benefit all those involved in writing and editing scientific documents irrespective of the level of experience and expertise.
