EASE webinar: COVID-19 shocks on the research enterprise and culture

Tuesday, 17 October 2023

The impacts of the pandemic on the research system – policy-makers, funders, universities, and researchers themselves – have been profound. The shocks of these impacts are not temporary and we are still living through the effects, with aftermath likely to last for some time to come. Although the pandemic has accelerated research and highlighted the benefits stemming from publicly-funded basic research, it has also revealed structural issues within research culture globally.

In the shadow of the pandemic, now is the time to re-create the scientific enterprise towards a fairer, more equitable research with honest relationships with industry and the public, as part of its recovery. This talk examined the movements, and apathy, towards embedding change in research practice, enterprise and culture.

Participants joined in a Q&A discussion at the end of the presentation.

The recording is available to EASE members via the Resource Library.
