This workshop provided an overview of the Committee on Publication Ethics’ core practices, flowcharts and guidelines. Thought-provoking cases were presented, followed by small group discussions in which participants used COPE guidance material and contributed their experiences and perspectives. Lastly, workshop participants were invited to present challenging publication ethics cases from their work as editors or authors.
The workshop was held in conjunction with the 17th EASE General Assembly and Conference (1-3 June 2023).

The workshop was given by Vivienne C. Bachelet, MD, MSc, editor-in-chief of Medwave and associate professor at the University of Santiago of Chile (USACH). Dr. Bachelet heads the Evidence-Based Medicine Unit in the School of Medicine. She was a member of COPE council from 2016 to 2019. Her current research interests are COVID-19, methods and evidence synthesis, and research integrity and publication practices.
