EASE webinar: GPT, language models, and AI in scholarly publishing – how it works, what it does and what it will never do

In 2022, the launch of ChatGPT reinvigorated the debate about the use of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and natural language models. The reality is that language and image recognition and generation have been increasingly used and steadily improving for several years now in a variety of contexts.

In this webinar, Dr Phill Jones presented a non-technical explanation of how technologies like GPT function, where they’re being used, what they can do, and what the inherent limitations are and Avi Staiman offered some use case examples. This was followed by a lively discussion with many questions from the participants.

This event was free and open to all.
