Session 1 – Keynote presentation

Saturday, 25 June at 9.00am (local time)

The landscape of scholarly publishing in Spain

Dr Remedios Melero, Managing Editor, Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) Spain and long standing EASE member, will open our 16th EASE Conference with her thoughts on the landscape of scholarly publishing in Spain. Dr Joan Marsh will introduce her and chair the Q&A.

Did you know that in Spain there are journals that are more than 100 years old or that most universities have their own university presses? Social sciences and humanities journals are the majority, and their publication responds to an open access  model distributed with Creative Commons licenses, that is why  some  can be described as diamond journals. Reme’s presentation will offer an overview of academic publishing in Spain, from free to commercial journals, and a brief overview of the profiles of their editors.
