Writing retreats and writing groups

With all the things you have to do as a researcher, it can sometimes be difficult to block the time and (mental) space for your writing. Or you might have a deadline coming up and you need to make significant progress on a writing project in a short period of time. In either situation, working with a writing facilitator can be just the thing to get you back on track or keep you going.

  • Writing retreats are ideal for those who need to block out everything else and focus on writing for anywhere between 1 and 2.5 days. Researchers come together, each with their own writing project, and work in within a structure that provides a safe and distraction-free writing environment. Writers set goals, track outputs and discuss writing struggles and solutions throughout the retreat, and writing sessions are interspersed with breaks for food and physical activity. Retreats can be online or in person.
  • Writing groups are ideal for those who need to write on a regular basis over a longer period, anywhere between 3 weeks to 3 months. Writers work on their own projects for the bulk of the session, with time at the beginning and end to set goals, track outcomes, and discuss writing struggles and solutions. Writing groups take place online.

I normally run retreats and writing groups in English, but I can run them in Spanish upon request and with a group of at least 5.
