Tuesday, 7 – Wednesday, 8 March 2023
The course will be delivered over two sessions on Wednesday 7 June and Thursday 8 June at:
09:00-12:00 (EDT), 14:00-17:00 (BST), 15:00-18:00 (CEST)
A wide range of ethical issues can arise in academic publishing. These can be caused by misbehaving authors (eg committing plagiarism or fraud), by abuse of editorial positions and also by conflicts between publishers’ and societies’ commercial interests and principles of editorial freedom and integrity. The course will cover how to detect and deal effectively with possible misconduct and show the importance of having sound ethical policies. While the principles and theories covered are applicable across most publication types, some issues covered will be particularly relevant to journals publishing.
