EASE/HESI UN SDG Publishers Compact Survey

Wednesday, 12 October 2022, 1pm-2pm (UK time)

EASE was pleased to announce a collaborative effort with the HESI SDG Publishers Compact Fellows (https://www.sdgcompactfellows.org/), a group of representatives from across the academic publishing sector (including publishers, librarians, academics) working to drive publishers, researchers, and educators to collaborate effectively to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

EASE and the HESI Fellows action group are undertaking a joint initiative to conduct a study editors and those involved in scholarly communication and publishing to discover how they (or their institutions) are contributing to the achievement of the UN SDGs.

The aim of the study is to discover what progress institutions or journals have made toward the 10 Commitments outlined in the UN SDG Publishers Compact. How many institutions or their journals are planning to become a signatory to the Compact, and what obstacles they have (or had) to overcome in order to do this. The study will provide valuable insight into what support organisations need going forward as they continue to support the SDGs, in order to make a ground for building a framework or toolkit for those who would like to sign up or support the Compact.

The survey questionnaire was launched during a workshop to raise awareness of this important work study objectives amongst EASE members and the wider scientific communication and publishing communities. The workshop was held online on Wednesday, 12 October.
