eLife, PLOS, BMJ, and Karger. Our services range from hybrid workload support for in-house teams to full
end-to-end editorial management. We have administrative and scientific teams based in the UK, Hungary,
Egypt, and India.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Editorial Assistant to join our expert team. We are looking for
someone who is interested in pursuing a career in publishing and who is passionate about peer review,
processes, learning, innovation, and customer service.

The role
The Editorial Assistant is responsible for supporting the Account Managers and managing some key
customer accounts for the company. This will include providing a first-class service to not only the
customer, but also authors, editors, reviewers, and the freelancers working on the respective accounts.
We expect the Editorial Assistant to be proactive in seeking and suggesting improvements to workflows
and processes. They need to have a keen eye for detail and be able to multitask at a high quality and
accuracy level.

Responsibilities
● Provide support to two key customer accounts and associated freelancers
● Provide support to the in-house team of Account Managers
● Manage 2-3 small customer accounts, including associated freelancers
● Monitor resources for assigned accounts
● Quality checking and reporting any issues to Account Managers
● Maintain desk notes and instructions
● Provide support to company projects such as those relating to business development,
communications, and outreach

Knowledge, skills, and experience

Essential
● Meticulous eye for detail and accuracy
● Strong oral and written communication skills
● Ability to collaborate within a team and demonstrate maturity and professionalism working with inhouse staff and external partners
● Proven ability to learn new tasks and processes quickly
● Proven ability to manage multiple projects
● Excellent time management
● Good critical thinking and problem-solving skills
● Proficiency in MS Excel
● Ability to deliver high quality customer service

Desirable
● Experience of working within publishing
● Experience of at least one online peer review system

Ts and Cs
This is a full time (35 hours / week) employment contract. Our hybrid role offers the opportunity to work
two days (Mon and Fri) remotely/from home.
