Prof. Karadag was born in Kilis in 1968. He graduated from Istanbul Medical Faculty in 1992. 
He completed his training in pediatrics at Zeynep Kamil Gynecology and Childhood Hospital in 1997.
In 1995 and 1996, he worked at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London, England, with the European 
Respiratory Society Scholarship. In 1997, he started working in Marmara University Faculty of 
Medicine, Division of Pediatric Pulmonology. In 2005, he carried out epidemiology studies in 
asthma and allergic diseases at the Department of Pediatric Allergy, Faculty of Medicine, 
The University of Munich, Germany, for one year with the European Respiratory Society Research grant.
He was assigned as associate professor in 2006 and professor in 2011. Since 2011, he has been the
Head of the Department of Pediatric Pulmonology at Marmara University. He served as the President 
of the Turkish Thoracic Society Pediatric Assembly for two terms. Between 2014-2016, he worked as
a Member of the Turkish Thoracic Society Executive Committee in Charge of Foreign Relations. 
Karadağ served as the Pediatric Respiratory Epidemiology Group Head of the European Respiratory
Society between 2015-2018. He is still a board member of the Pediatric Pulmonology Society of 
Turkey. He is also a member of the European Respiratory Society Clinical Research Commission for
Severe Asthma in Children, Bronchiectasis and Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia Task Forces. 
He is a board member of the Middle East Cystic Fibrosis Association, of which he is one of the 
founders. He is a member of the European Cystic Fibrosis Society and actively works in the 
Newborn Screening, Diagnostic Methods and Patient Registry Working Groups. Karadag, who is also
a member of the Turkish Neonatal Cystic Fibrosis Screening Commission, has 101 articles and 
his special interests are cystic fibrosis, bronchiolitis, bronchiectasis, primary ciliary 
dyskinesia and asthma. As the Head of the Marmara CF Centre, he directs a collaborative project with the
 University of Michigan Cystic Fibrosis Center with support from the US Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. 
He has been working as a member of the USA Cystic Fibrosis Global Advisory Committee since 2020. 
He has recently been selected as a member of the executive Committee of Turkish Pediatric Association 
and also serves as an associate editor at Frontiers Pediatric Pulmonology.
