Heather Van Epps, PhD, trained as an immunologist at the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School and did postdoctoral research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center before embarking on an editorial career in 2004. She served as Editor of The Journal of Experimental Medicine before joining the Lancet group in 2015, acting as Deputy Editor for The Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology and The Lancet Gastroenterology & Hepatology before launching The Lancet Rheumatology as founding Editor-in-Chief in 2019. Heather is co-chair of The Lancet Gender & Diversity Taskforce and a member of Elsevier’s Gender Equity Taskforce.
