Iva obtained her Master’s degree in Horticulture and landscape design from the University of Zagreb Faculty of Agriculture, and University specialist’s degree in Food Management at the University of Zagreb Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology. Her passion for science (coming from a long line of scientists), along with creative and organizational skills were already expressed during her study, but she found the perfect ground for fulfilling her potential at the Editorial Office of Food Technology and Biotechnology journal, starting in 2002 as the Editorial Assistant, then from 2010 as the Assistant Editor, and from 2013 as the Editor. Iva wrote several papers and editorials on scientific publishing, co-authored a book chapter on financial aspects of scientific publishing in Croatia, co-edited several book of abstracts and a special issue on scientific publishing, attended numerous courses, workshops and symposiums, organized and lead several workshops, panel discussions, webinars and symposiums. Iva is an EASE member from 2014, Chair of EASE Croatian Regional Chapter from 2020, EASE Council member from 2021, Chair and then Co-Chair of Environment and Sustainability Committee from 2022, and EASE Vice President from 2023. She is very active in Croatian scientific community as one of the founders and Secretary of Croatian Association for Scholarly Communication (CROASC) from 2019 to 2024, and President of CROASC from 2024, member of HRČAK (Portal of Croatian Scientific and Professional Journals) Advisory Board from 2021 and Organizing committee member of PUBMET Conference on Scholarly Communication in the Context of Open Science from 2016. She is also a member of the Croatian Society of Biotechnology (HDB). A keen believer in the open access journals policy, she is one of the signees of the Croatian Open Access Declaration, and a representative of EASE and CROASC in the OPERAS Special Interest Group on Best Practices. Her current focus is on the promotion of best practices in diamond open access publishing, EASE Environmental Manifesto, and the UN SDG Publishers Compact initiative.
