EASE-GENDRO Webinar: The story of the SAGER guidelines

Tuesday, 5 May 2026, 3pm UK time

In this round table we will hear a brief history of the SAGER guidelines from its lead author, Dr. Shirin Heidari. Dr. Sowmya Swaminathan from Nature will talk about the challenges journals meet upon their adoption and Dr. Iryna Izarova will outline how EASE helps to disseminate the SAGER guidelines and increase their adoption across the globe by making them more accessible. The session will be chaired by Dr. Bahar Mehmani, EASE President.

Bahar Mehmani

Peer Review Innovation Lead, EASE President, ElsevierThe Netherlands

Dr. Bahar Mehmani is the Peer Review Innovation Lead at Elsevier. She leads Elsevier journals’ peer review strategy and the Validation and Value innovation track. Bahar is also the chair of Peer Review Workbench which allows performing research on Elsevier journals’ peer review metadata to researchers, and an advisory member of Peer Review Congress. She is currently President of EASE.

Shirin Heidari

Executive Director, GENDROSwitzerland

Dr Shirin Heidari is Founder and Executive Director of GENDRO, an association with the mission to advance gender-sensitive research and data analysis. She is also Senior Researcher at the Gender Centre at the Geneva Graduate Institute in Switzerland. She was the founding chiar of the EASE Gender Policy Committee and the lad author of the SAGER guidelines.
