This session will focus on where editors add value in the AI landscape and why it matters. It will include sections on evaluating AI-generated content, handling sensitive author communication in the AI era, accessibility as an editorial skill (the role manuscript editors play in generating or vetting alt text and simplifying or providing peer reviewer feedback), and editing beyond text (graphical abstracts and visual accuracy).
This talk will explore the broad ethical challenges associated with the increasing use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) across various stages of the research cycle.
Part II of our popular Editorial School for Journal Editors will take place in October 2026. Jo Wixon will present the second of the four modules. Join us for our November Get-together, hosted by Are Brean and Phill Jones, in which we will explore how journals can become financially viable, reach the right audiences, and increase real-world impact.
