Turkish Regional Chapter satellite session ‘Publishing in high impact journals’
The Turkish Chapter hosted a symposium entitled ‘Publishing in high impact journals” on Tuesday, 28 June 2022 between 8.00 pm and 10pm (Turkish time). In the webinar, the important aspects of the publishing in high impact journals were discussed by the four essentials parties of the academic publishing: the author, the reviewer, the editor, and the publisher.

Module 4: "Promotion and indexing" will look at some of the problems in becoming indexed and ways that journals can improve their chances of success when applying for inclusion within the prestigious indexes.

Editorial School for Journal Editors – Turkey

Turkish Regional Chapter Introductory Meeting
The Turkish Regional Chapter of EASE held an introductory meeting on Thursday, 17 February. Chapter members and those from the wider scientific communication and publishing community attended. At the meeting Sibel Tabanlioglu was appointed as the new Chair of the Chapter and Gizem Kayan Tekaüt the new Vice Chair. They take over from Cem Uzun and Ali Sahin, who are both EASE Council members and freeing up time to work on new projects.
The meeting promoted the activities of the Chapter and in particular introduced the EASE Editorial School for Journal Editors which will be run in March and April 2022. The School is being piloted in four Chapters, Croatia, Romania, Turkey and Ukraine. It is exclusive to EASE members, so those interested were encouraged to join to take advantage of this excellent training at an affordable price.

The target audience included researchers and students working and studying in fields of social sciences. Over 1700 registrations were received with 75% attendance.

Four seminars on Authorship, Peer Review, Editorship and Ethics
EASE Turkish Regional Chapter member, Sibel Tabanlioglu, has co-ordinated four online seminars on authorship, peer-review, editorship and ethics with the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) and the Turkish Academic Network and Information Center (ULAKBIM) on 23-30 June 2020. The chair of the chapter, Cem Uzun moderated the ethics panel and gave a lecture at the editorship panel on “How to become a better editor”. The seminars have attracted great interest, and over 30,000 people have watched the videos of the sessions on TUBITAK ULAKBIM TV.
