June 2023 – Event 17th EASE General Assembly and Conference The 17th EASE General Assembly and Conference took place from 1-3 June 2023 in Istanbul, Turkey and online in a hybrid format. The theme of the Conference was 'Quality Scientific Publishing' and Turkish Regional Chapter hosted the event. June 2022 – Event, Panel discussion, Webinar Turkish Regional Chapter satellite session ‘Publishing in high impact journals’ The Turkish Chapter hosted a symposium entitled ‘Publishing in high impact journals” on Tuesday, 28 June 2022 between 8.00 pm and 10pm (Turkish time). In the webinar, the important aspects of the publishing in high impact journals were discussed by the four essentials parties of the academic publishing: the author, the reviewer, the editor, and the publisher. April 2022 EASE Editorial School for Journal Editors, Module 4 Module 4: "Promotion and indexing" looks at some of the problems in becoming indexed and ways that journals can improve their chances of success when applying for inclusion within the prestigious indexes.
April 2022 EASE Editorial School for Journal Editors, Module 3 Module 3: "Peer review process and production" looks at the various reviewing systems used by journals and provide tips for how the main problems with peer review (timeliness, quality and efficiency) can be reduced, improving operations and quality of feedback and communication with authors.
March 2022 EASE Editorial School for Journal Editors, Module 2 Module 2: "Publishing ethics for editors" considers some of the most common ethical issues such as plagiarised publications, data and artwork manipulation and misinterpretation, and the ways in which problems can be mitigated, resolved effectively and efficiently.
March 2022 Editorial School for Journal Editors – Turkey A four-module Editorial School for Journal Editors starting 23 March, for EASE members in four countries: Croatia, Romania, Turkey and Ukraine organised by their respective Regional Chapters. Over four weeks, participants will cover the following topics: Journal structure and management Publishing ethics for editors Peer review process and production Promotion and indexing
February 2022 – Event Turkish Regional Chapter Introductory Meeting The Turkish Regional Chapter of EASE held an introductory meeting on Thursday, 17 February. Chapter members and those from the wider scientific communication and publishing community attended. At the meeting Sibel Tabanlioglu was appointed as the new Chair of the Chapter and Gizem Kayan Tekaüt the new Vice Chair. They take over from Cem Uzun and Ali Sahin, who are both EASE Council members and freeing up time to work on new projects. The meeting promoted the activities of the Chapter and in particular introduced the EASE Editorial School for Journal Editors which will be run in March and April 2022. The School is being piloted in four Chapters, Croatia, Romania, Turkey and Ukraine. It is exclusive to EASE members, so those interested were encouraged to join to take advantage of this excellent training at an affordable price. A recording of the meeting will be available shortly.

July 2021 – Online course Course on Peer-Review in the Scholarly Journals A free online Otorhinolaryngology course mainly for the young otorhinolaryngologists. Speakers were editors or associate editors of different medical journals. More than 100 otorhinolaryngologists attended the course.
June 2021 – Symposium Sustainability in Scholarly Publishing Symposium A symposium entitled ‘Sustainability in Scholarly Publishing Symposium’. Four two-hour panels, with a wide range of speakers drawn from well-known editors, publishers or specialists in the field in Turkey

January 2021 – Event Scholarly Journals in Turkey panel The Chair of EASE TRC, Cem Uzun attended this panel as a panellist. They discussed the reasons for the great increase in the number of scholarly journals in the recent years and its impact on academic life in Turkey. The attendees were editors, publishers and academics from Turkey. Spring 2021.
January 2021 – Panel series Scientific Research and Publication Processes in Social Sciences Panel Series The main topic of the webinars was Scientific Research and Publication Processes in Social Sciences and a series of separate meetings focused on different steps of each process. The target audience included researchers and students working and studying in fields of social sciences. Over 1700 registrations were received with 75% attendance.
January 2021 – Workshop TR Index and its contribution to scholarly publishing lecture Ms. Sibel Tabanlioglu, gave this lecture during the third Workshop on Scholarly Publishing in Social Sciences. Almost 200 editors and publishers, mainly from journals in social sciences, attended the workshop.
January 2021 – Webinar Editorship in Scholarly Journals webinar A webinar “Editorship in Scholarly Journals”. During the webinar, we presented information about international publication standards and the organizations that shape these standards as well as providing practical information on structuring a successful journal and forming an editorial board to run the journal.

June 2020 – Seminar Four seminars on Authorship, Peer Review, Editorship and Ethics EASE Turkish Regional Chapter member, Sibel Tabanlioglu, has co-ordinated four online seminars on authorship, peer-review, editorship and ethics with the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) and the Turkish Academic Network and Information Center (ULAKBIM) on 23-30 June 2020. The chair of the chapter, Cem Uzun moderated the ethics panel and gave a lecture at the editorship panel on “How to become a better editor”. The seminars have attracted great interest, and over 30,000 people have watched the videos of the sessions on TUBITAK ULAKBIM TV.

November 2019 – Course Scientific Publication in Otorhinolaryngology A course on “Scientific Publication in Otorhinolaryngology” moderated by Cem Uzun, with speakers (editors from international otorhinolaryngology journals) wias run in Antalya. Orhan Yilmaz and Taner Erdag are among these speakers
October 2019 – Panel Medical journals publishing; current state and perspectives A round table discussion on “Medical journals publishing; current state and perspectives” (25 October 2019) was organized by the Montenegrian Academy of Science and Arts in Podgorica, Montenegro. Editors and authors from Balkan countries attended. Cem Uzun gave a lecture on “Publication ethics in medicine”.

June 2019 – Workshop Editors’ workshop The EASE Turkish Chapter and the Turkish Academic Network & Information Center ran an editor workshop in Edirne for 148 editors from all over Turkey (6 May 2019). It was live broadcasted.
