Workshops and training

EASE has partnered with three trainers to provide a series of optional workshops on the fringes of the 15th EASE General Assembly and Conference 2021.

The main Conference will be held virtually from 23-25 June 2021. These satellite events will be held virtually in the week immediately after the main Conference.

Course 1: Improving journal quality and impact: working with authors


Wednesday, 30 June and Thursday, 1 July 2021 from 9-11am (BST) in two virtual sessions, with Pippa Smart from PSP Consulting. EASE Conference delegates can register for £160 (a 50% discount), but hurry as EASE places are limited to 12. Course 2: Avoid those common scientific writing mistakes: Grammar and presentation

Tuesday, 29 June 2021 at 12pm (BST). Trainer and facilitator, Gareth Dyke, will host a workshop that builds on his deep experience language polishing and editing academic writing and scientific papers and will review the commonly encountered mistakes made when writing academic English. Improve your all-round English writing skills by learning to quickly and easily avoid common mistakes! We’ll also talk about article formatting and presentation, including tips for writing effective figure captions and creating tables. See more details


Course 3: Introduction to statistics for editors: understanding and reporting descriptive and bivariate analyses

Friday, 2 July 2021 from 1pm-4pm (BST), developer and faciltator, Darko Hren, will host this workshop, the aim of which is to offer participants a more digestible opportunity to develop understanding of basic statistical concepts, to help manuscript editors understand basic statistical concepts and terminology and provide them with elementary skills in reporting analyzed data.

The workshop will be a mixture of input and practical work. Each concept will first be explained and examples discussed. Practical exercises will be given along the way to put the knowledge into practice.
