Before you start writing

These guidelines are aimed at helping scientists worldwide present their research results in effective and efficient ways.

Before you start writing your paper, it can be beneficial to consider where you wish it to be published, as this can effect how you structure, format and phrase your manuscript.

We have included a number of things you should consider when making your choice in our Choose your journal section.

The most common reasons for papers to be immediately rejected on submission are that they fall outside the journal’s aims and scope or fail to comply with the instructions for author guidelines. Understanding what journals want to publish and whether your paper matches their editorial goals and requirements is key to successful submissions.
